• first digit for major application release
• second digit for minor upgrade release
• 3 or more digit for any subtitles languages added for each videotutorial
  • e - english
  • i - italian
  • j - japanese

So this last release is the 2.1.771 as it has a little upgrade from 2.0 version, has 7 subtitles in english and italian and 1 subtitles in japanese. Next probably will be 2.1.881 with GarageBand english and italian subtitles. With any new language subtitles will be added a new digit.

Any similarity to this project is totally casual.

Find Out How videos are wonderful tutorials that help users enjoy Mac applications. But all are english only. A friend of me is transcribing, translating and subtitling them to help peoples with hearing impairment and non english speaking understand these video tutorials. iMovie09, iWeb09, Pages09 are done and Keynote09 is in progress and Numbers09 on the road (this is why I'm posting here).
If someone speaking english as mother language wish to provide videos transcriptions will help a lot.

1. Download video from Apple Find Out How site
   • Ctrl+click on the video to "Save as QuickTime movie…"
2. Transcribe and time coding using Annotation Transcriber:
   • Import video with "Select Media" upper left button in the toolbar
   • Click on "Show Waveform Display" at the bottom of the window
   • Use Cmd-K and Cmd-L to start/stop/rewind the playhead, fine tune with the mouse wheel
   • Use Cmd+Alt-I to insert timecode
   • Write transcription
   • Add a snippet e.g. "Text missing" as placeholder to insert text pause as timevalues without text are invisible in SRT interpreters
3. Export .srt file with Export >Timed text >Subrip SRT
4. Import .srt file to preview and fine tune time code subtitle using Miyu
   • Click on "Change…" button to open video
   • File->Import from…>SubRip to import .srt file
5. Export .srt file with Export as…> SubRip
6. Edit translation with Smultron using UTF-8
   • Use Goolge translation to get a rough version and then edit it to get a good one.

My first concern is to avoid that more people work on the same video transcription/translation.
We can add some "labels" on the video index page after the video title. Like :

My workflow is now:

1. Creating english subtitles while trascript english audio
2. Translate subtitles
3. Upload video and subtiltes on MacVideoTutorial YouTube account
4. Create video wiki page with EN and IT tabs

Help in english transcription is most appreciate to get first step easy.
This can take about 15 minutes and no registrarion is required to post the english text.
If more people are interested and joined the wiki we can organize and share some tasks as:

• edit/translate more languages
• avoid that peoples work on the same video
• have some people as language coordinator
• check the quality of single language translation
